Frequently asked Questions
What is an automotive core?
We use the word, ‘Core’ to refer to used parts of automotive vehicles. These parts may or may not be in working condition. We primarily deal in passenger vehicle parts and Allison transmission and torque converter cores.
What do we do with cores we purchase from you?
We sell cores that we purchase from you to highly specialized remanufacturing companies based in various parts of the world.
Why should I sell you the cores instead of my local scrap dealer?
More importantly, we provide cores to highly specialized remanufacturers, who have the technical expertise and state of the art equipment to remanufacture the cores on assembly lines. These remanufacturers provide the independent aftermarket with reliable parts, often with warranties going up to 1 year or longer. This helps you, the independent aftermarket workshops, to keep getting good quality parts on a regular basis and perform your work reliably and profitably.
Compare this with the scenario, wherein you sell your core to a local repair shop with rudimentary equipment and insufficient technical knowledge. Most workshops are not satisfied with the quality of repaired parts being sold back to them by such local repair shops.
Even if you decide to sell your cores to a local scrap dealer, they eventually feed that product to the recycling industry who will recycle your cores for extracting materials such as aluminum or plastic, etc. However, in such a case, the independent aftermarket workshops lose out on availability of remanufactured options. An example of this is the torque converter for 6L80 transmission, wherein due to lack of availability of cores, remanufacturers, who offer upto multi-year warranty on this converter are unable to supply sufficient quantity of this converter. As a result, the workshops looking for good quality are forced to purchase these converters from the car dealerships at a much higher price (with only 1 year warranty) than what they would pay for a same or better quality remanufactured converter.
Additionally, the remanufacturing is considered by most experts as more environmentally friendly than recycling.
What is the minimum quantity I can sell?
The minimum quantity will vary by the country you are based in and the part numbers you are looking to sell us. Please click here to share with us the part numbers, quantities, and your location, so that we may provide you with a quotation and work out the logistics details with you over the email.
Will you arrange the pick-up of cores from my workshop?
That depends upon your location. Please click here to share with us the part numbers, quantities, and your location, so that we may provide you with a quotation and work out the logistics details with you over the email.
How should I package the cores?
Since we will be shipping these cores overseas, we require you to package the cores in the packaging of the replacement part you purchased. If that is not available, we might ask you to use rigid corrugated cardboard boxes or another packaging to prevent damage during transit. For some of the parts, we may be able to offer you a better price, if those are packaged in the original packaging of the replacement part. We can discuss these specifics over the email.
When will I get paid?
We will pay you 40% of the total amount within 7 working days of picking up the goods. We will pay you the remaining 80% of the amount after the goods have been received by our remanufacturing customer.
What are some of your core quality requirements?
Please refer to our core return guidelines page.
